Position Overview

SiteSpect, Inc. is seeking an experienced software engineer to be responsible for development, testing and evolution of our core applications. This is a senior-level technical position that requires a background in multi-tier application development with an emphasis on large-scale web systems.

One of the Software Engineer's initial projects involves the build out of an automated testing platform that covers load testing, UI & back end validation testing, robustness testing, and data comparison testing. This highly-visible project is a pivotal undertaking by our development team, offering the opportunity to flex both your technical and leadership skills. Subsequently, the Software Engineer will expand their role within the team to include core product development, while likely continuing as the "go to" person and keeper-of-knowledge about the workings of the automated test platform.

Requirements and Skills

  • 4+ years professional web software development focused on LAMP stacks using perl/mod_perl.
  • Experience developing under a Unix/Linux environment.
  • Experience in writing and execution of automated testing code, unit tests, regression tests.
  • Thorough understanding of SQL and data modeling.
  • Experience with high volume, horizontal scaled multi-tier applications.
  • Web UI development skills, including templating, JavaScript, DOM and CSS are a plus.
  • Degree in engineering or technical discipline (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Self-starter attitude, eager, enthusiastic, and high energy.

Candidates should have experience working in a team environment alongside other engineers and product managers. You should be comfortable with the dynamic and fast pace that is typical for an Internet software startup.

This is a full time position located in our office in downtown Boston, MA.
